How to sort product by review on Amazon? It's getting too 'fixed'!

Lately I've noticed lots of products with as many as 20 - or all - of the Amazon reviews being sponsored by the maker/seller, e.g. they received it free or at a discount in return for a review.

Another thing is that if you sort your search by 'Avg. Customer Review', guess what - it sorts 100% rated items to the top, even with 1 or 2 reviews! And when you read those they're very suspect, written as if the reviewer has never actually touched the item, or even lived in the UK.

What I'd like is a turbocharged Amazon search tool that re-sorts, and allows me to weight sponsored reviews as say, worth 25% of a real full price customer ones, and also intelligently filters out all 'less than x reviews' items.

Could be an ideal project for a browser add-in developer, or a separate site like the MSE Amazon Discount Finder.

Or... does what I'm looking for already exist?

    You need Fakespot:

    http://fakespot.com/

Fakespot, launched in 2015, analyzes reviews intelligently and calculates a grade based on the authenticity of reviews involving the selected product. Fakespot identifies fake reviews, currently supporting Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, Amazon.com.au.

Nice one, which interestingly I couldn't find using the usual Google search. And has a Chrome addin too.

Pathetic that the mighty Amazon itself is not able/willing to build its own filters in.
Another thing that's been needling me about Amazon is that there are sometimes reams of reviews that actually don't relate to the product.
That'd just be a mixup but surprising how sloppy Amazon can be at times.
  • yes you can search on google by product name or keywords or you can search on amazon Sort by Avg customer review
