It's a brilliant plan, and I've nothing really to add but you don't have to flour halloumi and fry it in oil
Sheep/Goat Halloumi. Gets dusted in flour and fried, served with random salad and/or homemade tabbouleh (bulgar wheat, parsley, cucumber, tomato, olive oil, lemon juice). Halloumi makes DB happy and, as it's cow milk free, I'm OK with it in small amounts. Two meals, I think.

Just slice it and fry it as it is in a hot ( not too hot or it will burn) non-stick pan or griddle or just grill it. It goes beautifully brown and crispy on the outside and it saves a lot of calories. :)
  • Jojo I take T3sco multivitamins and multi mineral tablets, one a day. Job done.

Has anyone mentioned eggs? A poached egg on toast with spinach is very good and all done in one pan with a toaster.

  • Well, yesterday was a cheap food day - got up late, drank a black coffee, had a piece of toast, chatted to the lodger and her friend, then went back upstairs for a short nap because I was achey. Vaguely remember OH being around at 7pm and 1.30am and wibbling at him that I'll be down in a minute.

I woke up half an hour ago.

    Oops. :D

  • Those chia seed thingies are impressive. I made a smoothie with chocolate soya milk, a banana and just one dessertspoonful of the things and neither of us was remotely hungry until about 2pm, when a slice of peanut butter on toast and a soya yoghurt did until 10pm.

I did three thumb sized strips of fish each in a rice flour and water batter, with some watercress, tomato and coleslaw made with two cabbage leaves, a carrot and an onion.

All the other perishables have been portioned up and wedged into the freezer since I defrosted it this morning, finding several bags of last year's soft fruit crop embedded into the iceberg at the back. They're going into more smoothies.

Maybe a gado-gado sauce with the peanut butter?

Whizz up some fried onion, peanut butter, water, tabasco or chilli sauce (if liked), lemon/lime juice.. and use it as a stir fry sauce with meat, tofu, quorn or vegetables.

So easy even I can cook it :D

Halloumi and veg skewers are easy and make you feel like you're at an exotic bbq. I quote them in a glaze made of soy sauce and cayenne pepper.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!
