Free dog locator tag and app

Hi all
I have ordered a free dog collar tag and key finder tag from dogtrac.com
Enter the code chunky in the promo code on checkout and just pay £3.99 postage.
Go to their website and have a look at the service, then download the app, it even has an sos service which looks fantastic.

Although my 11 year old dog always likes to keep me in view (literally, she was a Hearing Dog trainee, I can't visit the loo without "help"), some of my friends have younger, more stray-likely dogs (one is affectionately known as Scud, for reasons I'll leave to you to imagine).

Having looked at the site the app appears to give the geo location of where the dog has been found- not tracking the dog as the it suggests (or that may be just the way I interpret it). It relies on other users of the service in the vicinity to actually find your dog and then notify you of details where the dog has been found. That's OK if there are loads of people who use the app within 5 miles of where your dog goes missing, not so good if he/she goes missing on a day out etc.


I suppose its success depends on the number of users, and £3.99 isn't a lot to lay out (on the off chance that someone else uses the app when/where you may need it). There aren't any statistics on the site about the number of users. It may just be me being cautious but I just think these details need pointing out .

This is rubbish, as the above poster says it relies on the person entering the details - how is it any better then putting a phone number on the tag?
