Household Mortgage Corporation

Took out a mortgage 25 years ago with Household Mortgage Corporation and endowment running alongside. Sold property 15 years ago, and kept endowment. Endowment maturing this year, and insurance company asking for letter of no interest from Household Mortgage Corporation. However HMC is listed as dormant, and I cannot find who took over their book so I can get the required letter to release the funds to me. Does anyone else know? Even the Financial Services Compensation Scheme cannot seem to find them.... have tried The Mortgage Trust (wrong!), First National (nothing).... Anyone out there know anything?

HMC.
Blimey that has just taken thirty years off me. One of the first "centralised lenders" along with National HomeLoans and The Mortgage Corporation.
Back on topic, your solicitor should have organised the release documentation at the time the mortgage was repaid.I am a mortgage broker. That's because it is dormant.
You probably need to speak to GE Money. HMC is theirs.0 -

Doesn't matter, it still exists and they can sign things if necessary.0 -
Thank you. I have written to one of the HMC Directors listed, and also to GE. It seems GE took over Household Mortgage Corporation so I should be OK. This forum has proved very helpful. I am very grateful for your assistance, comments and guidance.0
