Quick CCA query

I did post on the support thread rather than start new thread but it probably got lost.

One creditor has asked for my CCA request letter to be signed. Now I know it's advised not to. I haven't signed yet but question is if I don't sign then they will not comply and agreement won't be forthcoming

This is an old credit card circa 1998 with a large balance. I'm tempted to sign as otherwise I will be in limbo

Not signing was in hindsight a slightly over paranoid measure in reaction to a few very alleged and unsubstantiated reports of DCAs lifting a signature to paste onto or fudge into a CCA response for a copy agreement.

Once it was clear agreements could be reconstituted, and would not have to bear a signature under a CCA request anyway, it was a bit of a nothing anyway.

Although technically they should have a legal obligation to comply anyway, and a request for a signature is spurious if they are sending it to the usual or known address for the debtor, and/or have no reason to doubt your identity, nowadays there is probably very little reason to persist being awkward about it back.

Likely most creditors will have your signature on record in some other form, and even if not, the chances of them misusing any you give are probably not worth any worry.
