Good news from Venezuela

Good news from Venezuela. If you are a civil servant you now only have to turn up to work on Mondays and Tuesdays. Well, okay, you are supposed to go in on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, in order to complete "fundamental and necessary tasks". Although that does rather prompt the question as to why you would need to employ civil servants that didn't have any fundamental and necessary tasks to complete.

The reason? Apparently there is an energy crisis and they're trying to save power.

You heard it right. The country with the biggest proven oil reserves in the world has run out of power. Do does that happen?

aren't they the lot that more or less gave away fuel to its citizens? And failed to sell enough internationally?

Another shining beacon of socialist Marxism in action.

I've had this out with Marxists but as ever they simply blame the west for somehow causing another Commie havens failure.

I always ask them why it is Cubans risked life and limb to get to America but not the other way around.

Because those were imperfect socialist states is the normal response.

Of course the fact that there is no perfect capitalist state is lost on them too :)

Note that the 'Venezuela Model' is one supported by Mr Livingstone, a key economic advisor to our next PM but one Mr Corbyn.
    I think....

I thought the left wing government in Venezuela had lost power in the election last year

Hasn't the president simply ruled by decree in the event that he no longer has the support of parliament - sadly another fairly typical left wing response when the proletariat demonstrate they are not yet sufficiently conscious of Marxist class struggle?

Sigh, who needs democracy when you can just ignore the result when it isn't the one you want.

sadly another example of the damage done when governments pursue ideological political objectives rather than concern themselves with the welfare of their people.

I believe Maduro declared an economic emergency back in January so that he could rule by decree and thereby ignore congress.

The only true democracy is the dictatorship of the proleteriat. Bourgeois democracy has its limitations you know.
