New State Pension - Individual ?

Hi,
I have just downloaded the claim form for the new State Pension & one of the questions asked relates to references to my Wifes' pension - am I right in believing that the NS pension is "per individual" and not "joint" in any way, that being the case - why do they want to know this information - any idea's ?
Thanks - Alex.

Because you receiving a State pension can impact any benefits that she may get. If your wife is above SPa already but has no state pension in her own right when you reach SPa she can get a pension based on your contributions.
If there is an ex spouse (divorced or deceased) you used to be able to get a pension based on their contributions - the form caters for that.0 -

I thought any transfer or sharing of state pension ended when the new state pension started? fj0 -

So you realise, now, that a spouse who has an SPa under the old rules can inherit from the death of a new rules spouse and the CAT B pension still exists for an old rules person when their new rules spouse reaches SPa.Yep, just as I thought cheers fj
