Question about eating artichokes

When I used to visit France as a child, I came across little porcelain wedges that are placed under a plate or dish to ensure that the vinaigrette runs to the corner making dipping of the artichoke easier. I still have a set. What are they called?

The only thing I can think of vaguely similar are artichoke and asparagus dishes that include an area for dipping with a rest (and a cradle in the case of asparagus). =S xxx0
