Like you my crown failed today and the root will need to be removed. My dentist told me today that a bridge couldn't be done on the NHS and it would cost me £1,200 private!! so 2 x NHS band 3 charges sounds good to me...

why can't you not have a bridge on the NHS band 3 covers bridge work.

NHS only covers what is clinically necessary to secure health. So eg a missing back tooth would not necessarily be bridged or replacing a large bridge where a denture may be more appropriate .

In general you will only get a bridge on the NHS to replace a front tooth where there are no other teeth missing.

Yep - that's pretty much what my dentist told me - if I'd knocked out my front teeth a bridge could be NHS but not if needed out of my 'smile line' and my bridge would need to be over a larger space (2 teeth)
