When I remortgaged with tsb I was told I had to take out their home and contents insurance with as I now realise an overprotected/priced policy....is this legal? And can I claim?....andy

Its not illegal. You could complain but do you have any proof thats what was said? In your mortgage offer and illustration given before application it will say what insurance must be taken out, it would usually say none...
