Apologies if this is not the right place for this but I couldn't find anywhere any better.
However, on Friday's "Food Detectives" (BBC2) they profiled someone who was routinely saving 50% on her normal weekly shopping for a family.
By checking up which shop to buy which item in and using spartphone apps for refunds, she reduced a 60 pound shopping bill down to 30. And that's for buying branded produce in major stores, not no-name items from discounters.
So, I have been on Quidco and checked the offers (and I looked at another site to be sure)- and it's true if you want to fill your shopping basket with candy bars, packets of crisps and cans of soda/beer, you can get some fantastic savings.
But for fresh (or even frozen/tinned) fruit and veg, meat (including ready meals), bakery and dairy products there's barely a saving in sight.
ISTM that even the most junk addicted family must spend a good percentage of their food bill on these latter items so how do you get a 50% saving on your total shop?
what am I missing here?

mysupermaket allows you to enter your normal shopping list and show you which of the majors is cheapest . It also allows you to look at individual items in your basket to compare
I put an alert on for items I buy only when reduced , Persil for example , and then bulk buy from that supermarket .
You have shopitize app which offers coupons , which can include fruit and veg , as well as the quidco and topcashback offers that involve a receipt upload
Aldi's and lidls are normally cheapest for veg and meatEx forum ambassador

Yeah, I've seen the program too. I checked Shopitize and there is no way you can save this much on a normal weekly shopping. You might save a bit on certain junk food like crisps, jaffa cakes, coke etc. or on some overpriced branded stuff, but you can't save 50% on a regular basis on your weekly shopping...0
