Where do I start?!

Options
Hello compers

Advice appreciated please. I'm keen to get started coming but not sure where to start, there seem to be so many options. What would you advise for a beginner? I don't think of myself as a very "lucky" person and was wondering if it's worth entering the prize draws when thousands of people must enter. I know that sounds stupid and I know somebody has to win!

Thanks so much 🌟

For the practical advice you can't do better than follow the links fire**fly has kindly provided :)

The other advice you will find on here is to treat comping as a pleasant hobby which can occasionally reward you. There a very few on here who have never, or very rarely, won. There are some who win frequently. But you always have to be in it to win it ([IMG][/img]smiley-rolleyes007.gif) and if you don't enjoy it it gets tired quite quickly.

Hello and welcome! I only started comping a couple of weeks ago..

I understand what you mean, the odd's on some of the competitions are quite high.. I'm sure I've read somewhere that competitions that require a bit of effort, for example coming up with a caption or something tend to have fewer entries... There are loads of one day competitions using twitter, usually Wednesday's and Friday's. Enter as many competitions as you wish, there is no point in entering them just for the sake of entering, if you have no wish for the prize!

    Good luck, have fun!

BTW if you haven't already, set up an email address just for comping so you don't get your main email address bombarded with newsletters etc... :)
