NHS pension 1995 scheme

Hi. Can someone confirm if I am correct in thinking the following : I am in 1995 scheme since 1985 . I have special class status so can take my pension at 55 years. I missed the protection by 3 months and have tapered protection until my 54th birthday when I have to join the 2015 scheme. At that point can I freeze my pension contributions for a year and take my 1995 scheme contributions. I don't see the point in paying into the new sheme for 12 months then not being able to get anything back until I am 67. I am not bothered about paying into pension scheme after I retire as I plan to locum as a nurse.

    As far as I know it should be fine. I would not use the term "freeze' when describing it in case in nhs pension jargon it has specific meaning which does not apply to your situation
    The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
    Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.
