Can you send a prove it letter at any time?

Can you still send a prove it letter at any time (its been years and have been paying then though Gregory Penninton) ?
All my accounts are shown as settled on my file - my default is due to drop off my file in a few months. Will doing this impact my credit file?
I want to know who is looking after each of the debts.

A 'prove it' letter would be when you are not sure that the debt is actually yours, or perhaps at a push if you think it is say all interest and charges that were not correctly applied.

Very late in the day if you deny that this debt is yours?

  • I would be interested to know what information they have on file for my accounts and records. I know I have the debts and I am paying them off.

    CANCEL

CANCEL NOW, you are paying them a monthly fee that could be paying off your debt

how much have you paid them over the years? Could your debt be cleared???
  • I have cancelled a few weeks ago - I am starting to do it all myself. I can give more to them than I was paying GP.

I should have done it all myself years ago - would all be cleared by now.

In that case you may need something like this link, and not a 'prove it' letter.

    https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/gettinginformationfromyourcreditors/creditagreementadvice.aspx

i.e. CCA for a statement of account, or SAR for all details.

Would not affect anything to do with the defaults.

  • Great thanks - I am trying to get everything in order but I have no information about who I owe each debt to originally and want to start keeping a file with letters etc.

Gregory Pennington will give you all that if you ask, as much as they are blood sucking leeches in regards to the fees they charge, they were actually very helpful when I left them
  • Also, if I don't get anything back from them can I offer a reduced final settlement? say 30-40% of the remaining amount.

You can offer that now, but I would start lower
  • Great, thanks for all your help. Its sort of what I thought but its great to have somewhere to ask those sort of questions.
