Did you have an alternative sponsor in mind who would provide money to the same level?
  • would rather not have the sponsorship money. Feeling is that a payday loan company who have in the last year been asked to payback £15m to people they lent money too by the FCA shouldn't be seen to be endorsed by the club. The club says it supports the community, but many ther on on low incomes and vulnerable to being exploited by companies like this.

How would they pay wages if no sponsorship money. Most clubs need sponsorship just to survive. I suppose they could do something like triple the ticket price to enable them to keep the administrator from the door.
  • although I said fans would rather have no sponsorship, the club could in all probablility find another sponsor. If there was no main sponsor the club have the finances to cope, there would be no eed to increase prices and certainly no danger of going into administration. The club on the whole has been reasonably run on that front and has promoted living within it means as being a core value, which is why going into a high profile partnership with a payday lender goes against a lot of what the club says it values.

Is this the same payday loan company who have sponsored one of your stands for the last half a dozen years without a murmur?
