How important is it to speak to different banks for mortgage offers?

We are looking at taking out our first mortgage.
We've spoken to Halifax so far who have given us a proposed mortgage offer. But is it important to shop around to get potentially better interest rates or whatever else..??

If you want to shop around go via a broker, Halifax does have some good rates and are quick.0
