Swappinig Energy Supplier Whilst on DMP

Hi

My current energy plan is coming to an end in June and I've been looking around and different suppliers. There are a lot coming out cheaper and I wondered whether it is a good idea trying to swap whilst on a DMP. I presume a new supplier would do a credit check ? Wasn't sure if they are likely to turn down the application.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Makes no difference, no one else sees your credit report unless you apply for credit.
It's only public information they can see, not financial.

Your not usually credit checked for utilities anyway.

I am with NPower and they report onto credit agencies. Usually reports zero ballence but if any small debt after a bill has gone out it records the debt until the direct debits have caught up and cleared it. Never applied for credit with them, just seems to be the way they work. Last energy firm didn't credit report, NPower do.

The new energy supplier won't do a credit check and can't turn down your application unless they don't support your meter, which is unlikely if you've been able to make a comparison. However, if you're in debt with your current supplier they can refuse to let you go.

    Hi

Thanks for all the advice. The account is slightly debit at the moment but will be in credit after the next DD goes out next week. They want an extra £40 month which they say will be the cheapest tariff when mine finishes in June. Rang them is morning to see if there is any room for negotiation and was met with flat No.

    Thanks for the advice

No issues at all, I've been on my DMP for ages and swap as often as I can, the minute I can make any sort of saving.
