Anxiety / help required

Hi. I am new to this board. Mods, I apologise if this is in the wrong section.

In short, I'm in my late 30's. I have had to move back home with the folks, and work for an insurance company earning less than £20,000 P.A. I have debts that total around £25,000. All credit cards, no loans.

I have chronic anxiety and depression, and I am finding it more and more difficult to work. I have always intended to improve my life, slowly and repay back what I owe, but I'm caught in a loop.

Does anybody have any advice for me please? There is also a chance that I could lose my job should an external matter go to court and not go in my favour, at worst I'll pay a fine or something, but this counts as a conviction which means I lose my job.

I am losing sleep, getting sick and more and more distressed. :(

    Hi,

    Welcome to MSE.

You haven't provided much in the way of detail, but I can give you a generic responce which would most likley apply to you.

Worst case scenario is you lose your job, and can't pay your credit commitments.
As you live with your folks, there is no property a creditor can get there hands on, and a consequence of that is most of the contents will be your folks, so no seizing of goods.

The only thing creditors could do would be to take you to court and as you would not be working, the judge would order a £1 per month to each one, so that would be pointless.

So basically there's nothing a creditor could realistically do to you if you couldn't pay.

As regards the anxiety and depression, have you seen a GP? Any treatment started? Have you tried any CBT/counselling? It sounds like it's an awful situation. Money and work troubles increasing anxiety levels which in turn means that you won't be able to focus on work/work situation will feel much worse than it is.....feeling overwhelmed with it all...

If you have already moved home, does that mean your outgoings are minimal? Can you throw any spare money at your debts? Post up a SOA? As soon as you start gaining a little control, maybe you will feel a little better. Yes, there is a chance that you could lose your job but worrying about it is not going to change the outcome? Would you be able to get another job if you lose it?
