Mortgage Payments and Upkeep

Hi,
My wife and I split up 3 years ago and I've remained living in the marital home (she has a new partner and a new house). We still own the house jointly, however she does not pay the mortgage as I pay for this along with all bills and any upkeep. I have recently had to replace the boiler and bathroom, as well as some other general maintenance around the house (new garden fences etc) Although I am aware I cannot force her to pay her half of the mortgage, I'm wondering if she is responsible for paying towards general upkeep, given she will expect half the equity when the house is either sold or I buy her share. I have already received some legal advice on the split of equity and it was confirmed that I would be able to knock off the total amount of interest I've paid to the mortgage since she stopped paying, but I'm wondering if she should pay towards the expense of general upkeep or this too can be taken off the final settlement. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Keep a record of everything you've spent, it's much easier to go for a clean break, though, and you can both move on.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

Thanks, I have kept records of payments I made0

Ideally you need to come to a settlement now. The fact that you wish to remain in the property is entirely down to you. Being entirely neutral. It's not reasonable to expect another party to fund costs that relate to you remaining in the property such as bathroom replacement.0

"had to" ? OK boiler perhaps. Bathroom? I doubt it very much.0 -
You are the one benefiting from the new bathroom and you are the one benefiting from the new reliable boiler and cheaper running costs.
It you do not want you EX to benefit from any increase in house prices then buy her out.
