Goodbye NI!

I'm sure everyone knows that once you reach your state pension age you no longer pay National Insurance if you are still working.
Today I received a certificate from HMRC - Certificate of age exception! Form number CA140 (NOM).
You hand it over to your employer and then it's goodbye to those NI deductions!
So if you're still working and nearing your state pension age look out for this certificate, sent from DWP, Belfast.
Cheers fj

On the day I reach SPA I'd rather be sat on a warm beach with a cool drink in my hand rather than waving a smart new certificate at an employer.0

Done that, got bored, went and got a nice easy well paying job!
In fact working less than ever before, earning more than ever before!
All those people who say they're on the scrap heap at 50 need to think again and pull their fingers out, it's not hard. And I live in the poorest county in Europe! So it can be done folks.

I have a big problem with people who have so little in life that they go back to work because they're bored!
I am however extremely grateful that I have a passion / obsession that keeps me fully occupied and several other strong interests that hardly get a look-in.
Whatever floats your boat I suppose.....The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
For all you know bigfreddiel has a passion/obsession that others will pay him for. Sports coaching, consultancy, fixing classic cars...0

I'm fortunate that being self employed is also a job that I enjoy.
it was a hobby but turn it into a part time job and it pays me money!
I'm never bored.if I've got nothing to make then I turn to my other hobby making 3 strings guitar's.
I always find something to do,I also ride a motorbike on nice days we go out.0 -
You do not always have to claim the exemption form, the employer i worked for did it all for me and i was surprised thet as my brthday was on the 24th july i presumed that i would not get any benifit till august,s pay slip but no payroll informed me that NI payments would stop in July.
The difference in my take home pay per month was significant, now if they could have only dropped me out of the TAX club that would have been great0 -

My birthday is 24th but we get paid on 21st of the month (today!!!) so will have to wait until the following month:-(0 -

I really enjoy my work, only three days a week, it's more like a club than anything else. No stress.
I should add I have no kids sadly, no family nearby, and any family I have is not close knit.
So work breaks up a week, where I do other things.
