Help, engagement ring needed and no idea where to buy!

Know there are threads on here about buying an engagement ring but I really cant work out where to buy, the high street seems overpriced but the online stores I worry how genuine and about quality.

Ideally looking for it soon as we have a trip away planned so would be ideal to propose on our favourite beach.

Will be very traditional, platinum with a solitaire diamond, has anyone used any companies recently or any stores?

I have looked at 77diamonds who previously I have read good things about but not recently?

Any help hugely appreciated.

I'd look in the specialist diamond quarters ie :- Manchester, London and other large cities so you can both see what you get is correct and have the right size ring to take away, Nothing stopping you bartering a deal either as they do expect this and will allow something off if you ask.

While an eternal optimist in affairs of the heart & wishing you both all joy, do please check the returns policy in case?
  • Theres quite a lot of info on 77 Diamonds about the different qualities of diamond you can buy which would help you pick one suitable for you. Perhaps someone will say otherwise but I would think if it comes with a certificate from one of the reputable issuers you can't go too wrong.

Have you had a look at Purely Diamonds?
That's where my OH bought my engagement ring from and I'm thinking of buying my wedding ring from them as well.

Thanks for the replies, well after a hurriedly rearranged weekend away ended up doing it with a cheap (ish) ring and luckily she said yes! Have found 77diamonds great to deal with and price and quality wise a mile ahead of any normal retailer.

I ordered an engagement ring on https://www.crownjewelryrepair.net/. Check it out too. Here is the one I picked.

I would suggest that you look on-line for different options. you will different designs at reasonable rates too.

Why not get a CZ ring as a placeholder for the 'surprise' element, then if she loves it, get a diamond mounted (although IMHO that's a muppet tax, but hey...)
  • It depends on how much you'd like to spend? Yes, high street retailers are over priced. It's better to order a sample ring from online Retailer Shining Diamonds (Best Priced and have good rating on trust pilot)

Good Luck with your proposal :)
