in Credit cards
Dear all,
I have held the Aqua Reward card for a year now. Recently I transferred the direct debit (full payment) via Aqua's online banking from First Direct to Lloyds. I then received a phone call today, demanding payment for a missed payment from the beginning of this month. I've settled it, and they've waived the £12, but I'm concerned about the impact that it'll have on my credit score.
Is it my fault or the banks'? I can see the payment was taken on the due date (but was then returned - which I didn't notice). I've written a letter to customer services at Aqua asking for the late payment to be removed from my credit file.

When you say recently, how recently? Are you saying that they still tried to claim the DD from your First Direct account?
Aqua will need a certain amount of notice to change a direct debit so if you swapped the bank details a day or two before the DD was due, then it was your fault.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure. But surely if I changed it too late to switch it in time it would have already started to be processed by my previous bank, First Direct?0

Oh also, when I log-in to my internet banking, both Lloyds and First-Direct have direct debits on them - so in theory Aqua could take it from either without a problem0

You can cancel a dd your end when logged into the accounts you hold.0

Okay so I phoned Lloyds and the direct debit mandate was set up several days before the payment was due, and they said there's no reason why it shouldn't have been taken.
So I can only assume that Aqua messed up. They've been pretty good so far so hopefully they'll remove the mark on my file too without fuss0
