PPI Claims Mortgages

Options
I keep getting calls about PPI and my mortgage saying that although I'm pretty sure I did not have protection insurance on my (repayment) mortgage they may have hiked the interest rate charged to cover it.

Any advice as to whether it is worth me pursuing this either with a claims firm or by myself ? Thank you.

    They didn't.

If you know you had it and have an argument for why it was mis sold to you, then just put in your own complaint.

So, you get bunch of cold calling companies about PPI who know nothing about you (although some do get your details off land registry which gives them your lenders name) and you want to know whether it is worth you putting in a complaint about a product you dont think you have and dont have any grounds to make a complaint about.

What exactly would your complaint be?

My complaint presumably would have been via a claims company for increased interest rates to cover protection insurance but as you say this is not possible, then there won't be a complaint....

If the CMC told you that, and it is common thing said by the scamming CMCs, then you should complain to the CMC that they were attempting to commit fraud. If you then fail to get a satisfactory response from the CMC, then you could refer it to the legal ombudsman.

CMCs are meant to only submit a complaint to a bank after carrying out some sensible checking. Making a complaint on a fraudulent basis like that is just not on.

Cold callers often try to convince people to sign up with them by saying all kinds of tosh. The cold caller will be on commission, but won't actually be personally responsible for any subsequent "complaint" made to your mortgage provider. That will be much more above board (and doomed to failure if you didn't have any PPI)

Remember, they just want your signature, they won't knowingly provide you with complaint reasons you can take forward yourself.
