Grr Payplan pushing husband in to iva.

To cut a long story short we started our DMP with payplan for £104,000 (Yes i know a lot of debt) ,after 9 years we are down to £36,000 . After our review yesterday they wanted my husband to do a IVA and for me to stay on the Dmp, we do not want to do this can they force us to do the IVA route for my husband?
Also my husband got a phone call today a follow up from our annual review , they had assumed me and my husband were separated (Happily Married thank you ) . Hubby told them we very happily married , not separated. They then wanted proof we had CO's and CCJ's like court documents that happen a year into our DMP payplan. Why do they need them now after all this time? they never asked before. Can we be force to hand these details over as well? Yes i know it would make life easy just to hand it over. Thank you for hearing me out just needed to vent. Yes we know we have made mistakes with money but we have learnt our lessons and are proud how much we have paid off.

Payplan can't 'force' you to do anything you don't wish to, but I suppose you mean could they refuse to continue with your DMP if you refuse?

If they were to take such action nothing is stopping you switching to stepchange or a self managed DMP, so there is no reason to accept being bounced into something you are not comfortable with.

PayPlan have to be honest lost much of the already limited confidence I once had in them.

  • They were so rude to hubby asking him what we are going to do with our home once we have paid the mortgage off, we have no intention of selling it it's our home. Payplan have change so much ,we have never missed a payment (Yes i know we have been lucky) but we have not had it easy. Thank you Fermi for responding it means a lot to us.

My experiences with payplan over the past year or two (since they were persuaded not to sell 'additional' products) have been quite good.

This does sound a bit odd though. If either of you were going to do an IVA the time would have been many years ago. It sound like at the rate you are repaying you will be clear in 5/6 years so why go for one now?

Regarding ccjs and charging orders, why would they not just take your word for it?

It sounds like you got talking to someone new and (over)enthusiastic. What you are doing with your house is nothing to do with them.
  • Thank you fatbelly , who knows what's going to happen in the future we have been throwing everything at our DMP and are proud we have come this far as well as bringing up our family and everyday life. Thank you for your reply we just did'nt know why the change in tune. Is it because we have been with payplan to long ,I don't know ?

If they thought the DMP was going to take too long it's something they should have mentioned at the start. Not sure why they would suggest an IVA at this point though. If you aren't happy with their service you can always change to a free DMP with Stepchange, or self manage as fermi suggests.

    My thoughts exactly.

The time to do an IVA would of been at the start (with 104k of debt it would of been a sencible choice).

I would stick with your DMP, as others have said, if payplan get funny, Ditch them, and either go self managed, or try stepchange.
