Should I use the Estate Agents mortgage broker?

I don't want to go into detail about the branch or anything, but we are using Countrywide Mortgage brokers which we found through our estate agents, Gascoigne Pees.
I was just wondering if anyone else has used them and if they were any good? (I probably should have researched this more prior to agreeing to use them, I know)
Thank you

Generally it's best to find an independent, whole of market broker.
The ones in big estate agents are more concerned with earning a comissionChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

I'm using countywide and no issues so far. Good that I can contact her anytime through email and she gets straight back to me.
Proof will be if/when she gets us a mortgage.0 -
Do independant ones cost more?
To be honest I've never felt like there's much of a difference to be had if you do some online research first, and I'm more concerned about who would actually approve it rather than rate ( lose a lot if purchase collapses)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No no don't use them!! Use a whole of market broker. I found the individual brokers in agents not good.0

Make sure the rates are decent, compare what you got to the MSE best buy tables.
If you have adverse credit all the more reason to avoid EA brokers."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I'm obviously biased but my view is that the estate agent's broker is on their side and only really interested in getting the house sold.... to anyone.
An independent broker is on your side and is only interested in getting YOU a mortgage.I am a Mortgage BrokerYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it.

I used a real estate agent's broker. Two years before I was refused a mortgage after going direct to the bank I had a current account with for 15 years. I really didn't think i had a chance this time round - I wasn't even on the electoral roll. Now I am in my flat with a mortgage from a high street lender.
Looking at it from a broker's point of view, whether independent or not - why would you waste hours of your own time in submitting an application if you were not confident of success and prepared to make sure the application was done properly and professionally? Time is money after-all.0 -
Trawl through the site and you will see numerous calls to avoid the Estate Agent's in house broker. From conflict of interest, to service standards, to knowledge they frequently fall down.I am a Mortgage Broker

Thank you amnblog! Do you know if EA mortgage brokers have access to the entire market? I don't mean it to sound like a silly questions, but are they limited in any way to which lenders they can contact for you?!0
