I'm sorry if this information is elsewhere, I've had a quick look and cannot find the answer.
My dad (born 1939, claiming full state pension) died last week and we are trying to find out if my mum will be entitled to any of his state pension. She was born in 1947 and us getting approx £95 a week state pension, no other income.
My dad also had a private pension worth £2000 a year which my mum should get 50% of, not sure if this will affect the state pension.
Many thanks for any help.

The gov website https://www.gov.uk/state-pension/further-information says..
"If your spouse or civil partner is over State Pension age when you die, they should contact the Pension Service to check what they can claim. They may be able to increase their basic State Pension by using your qualifying years if they don’t already get the full amount."0 -
When my husband died recently, the Pension Service was very quick and efficient with dealing with everything and I received the extra pension due within a week or so as well as the arrears.
I know that won't help you calculate it (I still haven't worked out why I got extra) but your mother might find it reassuring to hear that the process is hassle free and speedy.
Best wishes.

No, the private pension won't affect the SRP but it will be added to whatever she receives now to calculate her eligibility to pension credit. At present this is£155 pw so, however much she gets from your father's contributions, she can be sure that she will have at least this amount to live on, plus the other benefits that this opens up.0 -

She should get a bump up to a full state pension level, plus she will inherit part of any S2p or state second pension he had built up. How much had he been getting weekly before he passed?
Call the pension service with you in the room, she can pass security then hand the phone over to you.0
