Good Shower Brush ?

Options
Howdo,

Can anyone recommend a long-ish handled shower brush please?

My old trusty Betterware one from the '90s has been perfect for two decades but is finally wearing out. It has just the right mixture of softness and scrubbiness to wash comfortably and effectively all over.

After trying some from supermarkets and eBay, I realised the translucent coloured handled ones are in fact all the same, presumably made in the same Chinese factory (even Betterware now sell them). All far too rough and sharp.

Then bought a quite expensive wooden-handled one with boar bristles made by traditional British manufacturer Kent Brushes thinking it would be luxury (hey they make brushes for HM The Queen!),. But sadly even this is again far too stiff for actually washing with except the soles of one's feet.

So, any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks.

I have just bought this at drugstore and quite like it:

I'd say it's too rough for every day use but I will stick to it as the skin is extremely soft afterwards!

I'm hoping for something less rough (for daily use) & a longer handle.

Well that's something you can find in many shops...round brush with a long handle... Are there really that many types of shower brushes that you need a recommendation before buying one?

there's some on amazon that get decent reviews, just about to order one myself, one of the pixnor ones i think as they seem to have softer bristles than the other top rated topnotch one.

^ thanks for the link. I think all those ones with coloured or clear plastic handles are the same, and too rough for me. Be interested to hear what you think if you've bought one. [Edit: Hmm on reading the reviews, maybe they've started making them softer since the three I tried?]

It's bizarre that no one seems to make an ordinary brush for everyday showering now. All brushes seem to be about exfoliating. If worse comes to the worst I might end up buying a brush from Halfords intended for washing cars – at least they're soft and non-scratchy!

Anyway, thanks for the posts and any other suggestions people might have.

Taking your car washing thought one further, what about having a feel of dish and dustpan brushes in the supermarket? It would be a nuisance needing to add a longer handle, but possible.

i've been using the pixnor brush for about a week, just perfect for my needs. reaches all the bits needed & is soft enough for every day use but still cleans ok & gets nice & foamy on the head (can't believe i've just typed that!! :D )

Thanks for the links. Oh yes I know what you mean about the 2-piece ones - never again!

It looks like there is a big range of personal preference in firmness of bristles. E.g. for the Superdrug one, two reviewers like it, and another says "The bristles on this are way too firm - it just feels like you're being scratched all over and it kind of hurts" so suspect that one might be too scritchy for me as well. Will pop in an see in person though. Will also order a pixnor one to try out. After that, Halfords here I come. Cheers.

My translucent handled job isn't that scratchy now - it was a bit keen but warm water, soap & persistence with the harder skin on my feet broke a lot of the stiffness & it's now altogether a friendly pal to shower with.
You may find they ease up with age?
