Mortgage indemnity insurance protects the lender, not you. On what grounds do you feel some of the debt should be written off?0

20 years ago, we had our home repossessed due to new family, illness etc. We had mortgage indemnity insurance which we thought would cover the mortgage owing. How wrong were were. We consider ourselves lucky that the sum owing was only £12,000, but we're still paying for it all these years later. Is anyone else in the same boat and did you have any luck in getting some of the debt written off?
MIG was not for your benefit. It was for the benefit of the lender.
Why do you believe that you should have your debt written off?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
