Civil Service

What has happened to the civil service? This time last year there were lots of jobs being advertised on the civil service websites. Now there are very few good jobs being advertised.

I have seen various statements recently that the Civil Service was going to reduce out-sourcing of technical IT positions, and start recruiting their own developers/project managers, etc. There don't seem to be a lot of Civil Service hands-on IT jobs advertised though.

There's been 87,000 civil service jobs cut since 2010, and there's another 100,000 to go by 2020. It sounds like they are not replacing people who retire or leave, or at least only accepting internal applications for those jobs.

If IT contracts are brought back in house, the contractor's staff are likely to be TUPE transferred to the government. It won't create jobs.
