BPO Collections and Virgin Media

Right usually on service i wouldn't fault virgin media, when i was with them they was good but when i wanted to leave it was like trying to leave a mob family, you don,t.
I was with them for 2 years whilst i was at university and when i finally left and the girl i was living with wanted to keep the net. So i called up Virgin to see if i could shift the account to the house's occupant and close mine with them all together. It took a few calls and different people said i either had or i didnt need to pay £60 pounds to close the account. They agreed on that i didnt, so i went about sorting out the name exchange on the account and closing off my affiliation with the account. Bank details was swapped, passwords changed and i got a letter in the post to sign to confirm it all.
I thought it was over with but two months after i moved back home i realized Virgin Media was still charging me for the services. I called them up to try and get my money back but they asked for the account info....i didn't have it, it was changed. I tried my old info but it didn't work, plus i couldn't get in contact with the girl who took over the account. So i told them them straight i didn't have any of the info and had no way to get in contact with the account holder so i was asking my bank to block the direct debit.
For a few month i kept getting phone calls asking me to pay them for an account i didnt have any info on. Each time i was saying give me a name and an address and i will send you a copy of the letters i had confirming the accounts shift in owners plus a list of names of people i had spoken to.
Eventually Virgin stopped calling and another company did, i don,t think it was BPO but it was a company like them. That lasted about a month and since i was ignoring them it stopped.
Now fast forward 2 years later. I started getting phone calls off BPO saying that i owed money and wouldnt say who from. Then i got a vague letter 2 weeks ago with my old address and nothing more. Now today i get a letter with more info. Confirming my suspicions that this was all leading back to virgin media. They say i owe them £94.83, i don't think i owe them anything cause of the above reasons i have stated. Though this is the first time having to deal with any kind of debt....well unless you count student loans.
So what do i do? Do i just suck it up and pay it off? or is there a way to fight this?
