What's the job market like at the moment ?

I am not enjoying my job at all and am wondering about taking a leap of faith and handing my notice in. I would need to find permanent or temping office based work within a couple of months due to finances .
Doesn't need to be a high flying high paying job and I am in Hampshire if anyone has any relevant experiences.
Is the employment market buoyant at the moment ?

There are a considerable number of jobs out there, but unless you have experience equivalent to installing nuclear fusion reactors on the space station, or designing a new type of invisible bomber/spy plane then your unlikely to get anything beyond minimum wage, but even then you will need to apply to thousands before getting one. I speak from experience because I have plenty in unemployment.Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.0

Poor - employers are holding off until the outcome of the EU referendum is known. http://www.onrec.com/news/statistics-and-trends/jobs-market-recovery-stalls-amid-brexit-uncertainty
This is interesting though http://www.indeed.co.uk/jobtrends/unemployment
All the recruiters at agencies I have been speaking to say the jobs market in London at least isn't great - especially for office jobs, even temp work. All the big banks have recruitment freezes. The only place that seems to have lots of jobs is the NHS!0 -
I took a huge leap from a well paying job in London that I hated and took a toll on my health. I secured a long term temp job (9 months) a week after leaving my job and have been lucky to get some long term temp roles since. I've been temping solidly for 2 years now and enjoying it and been with the same agency all the time and I've built up a good relationship with them.
If you are not too fussy and happy to take plunge and go for it...it could work. I've worked in some great environments, worked with different people, worked in different sectors, learned new skills and it's given me an idea now of what I do and don't want to do.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014

Have you looked at what jobs are out there OP ?0

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
I have had a cursory look but what I'm finding unpredictable for the couple I've been interested in is that the recruiters seem to leave adds up for jobs no longer available ?
I haven't really explored temping though and wouldn't really know how to get into it .0 -

No. But I also think neither side are in a great position.
My current place are making people participate in work trials - never happened before, to me it's never been quite so choosy and that's with a reputation of our team retention of around 6 months so nothing to be proud of.
I've been privy to meet people recently who have spent years in the same job and they are so scary that I started to think yes I get why it's good to keep moving
one clearly spent to much time 'comfortable' said to me after applying for a telephone based role, the phones don't ring much do they (from the same industry Just a see of what you are up against
) - that question got them an unsuccessful letter I hope though it did make me want to chuckle before thinking yikes that could be me in few years time or our higher up has no idea of what we do day in, day out. Even with my previous troubles with excel which is another story !! I've still tried to learn it and appreciate it's office/daily function, wouldn't dream of saying anything similar for a position that knowingly uses it or throwing myself in the lions den so it does make you wonder who's applying for stuff out of reach and vise versa. 0 -

Please, please, please - is there any chance you could read your posts back to yourself?
They rarely make sense to me and I keep wondering if I'm missing something.:hello:0 -

I had the same trouble but assumed the poster was foreign and English was a second language.
It was good of them to join in though .0
