Tesco "Temporary" contracts

Has anybody been taken on a "Temporary" contract which has turned into a permanent contract.
I have just applied for a 14.5 hour contract as a second job to my main role but wonder if by the time I have 'trained up' I will be released!
Anyone start on a temp, now on a perm contract?
Thanks

I have done in the past. I had a temporary job over the christmas period then it turned into permanent after that.
i've know many others where its been the same. And i've seen those didn't get a permanent contract as well
It really depends on the staff turnover0 -
Not at Tesco, but my wife had a short term appointment with a company initially which ended sooner than expected because she had cleared the backlog faster than expected. The company called her a few weeks later asking if she was interested in a 6 month fixed term contract, which she accepted. Towards the end of that contract it was extended for another 6 months. At the end of that she was offered permanent, full time employment. That was about 3 years ago and she's still there.0

Don't know but I heard their notice periods are blooming good. Couldn't believe it someone was spouting after 10+ years service they can just walk away working all of a week's notice!? Seems the new contracts really work in those situations so is that not something to be in favour of, when it sure makes a mockery of every other business who enforce longer notice periods.
Clearly now I know I chose absolutely the wrong professions! Lol Couldn't believe quite what I heard. Live and learn most definitely. Didn't know the most accommodating employer is seemingly the retailer.0
