Seller wants access to deposit before completion

Thanks all. Everything has been resolved and we are proceeding with the sale as normal.

Did they say what they want it for? (Deposit for a rental property?, pay off gambling debts?)
The fact that they can't raise £6k without borrowing it from you suggests that they are 'financially stressed' - so it may not be a good idea.0 -

Not DIY conveyancing the request came from their solicitors. They say it is so one of the sellers can use the money as a deposit on rental property. If we don't agree they say the will take the house off the market0

Suggest that they rent somewhere less opulent, a deposit of £6000 would suggest a monthly rent of £4000, there are a vast number of properties available for less than a quarter of that amount.0

Tell them to go ahead, but don't agree to their request. I would be inclined to walk, if not run away from this house as they sound like trouble. Unless it is your ideal house, but still say no.0
