Handing in notice- how early is too early?

  • Until you have signed a contract and everything is contractually sorted, you don't have a new job to go to (that is how you should see it)!

    If the opportunity for training etc comes up you need to be careful, I don't know if your current contract would state you have to pay for any training undertaken within x-months of leaving (may be worth checking).

    A most people have mentioned though, you don't need to do anything, it is a long way away yet, I'm sure when references get requested they will clock on but that shouldn't be for a while yet.

    Carry on as if nothing has changed, and try not to tell any of your colleagues as these things never stay quiet, especially if someone thinks they can further themselves off the back of someone else pain.
