Well surely you can work out if there's any arrears?0
-
Yeah i should be able to work out arrears but as our case states we have none "at the moment "i was thinking worst case scenario. The csa have a happy knack of coming up with imaginary arrears and incorrect figures .I was only asking for advice on what happens during an arrears cleanse that's all!!0

I just meant that despite what they come up with, you have evidence to show.
I apologise Ive not experienced this, I suspect they simply check that the expected totals match the payments0 -
Thanks for the reply ,what usually happens is you get a calculation once a year and it has a regular monthly payment plus a total for arrears...we cleared our arrears over a number of years and have rang them really frequently to check there's none and i've always been told they were clear.
What concerns me is it took a few years for them to find my partner and i'm assuming that's where the previous arrears came from but i cant be totally sure...i don't want to ask them this in case i open a can of worms so i thought if i could find out the Arrears cleanse procedure it might help me put my mind at ease.I would really appreciate if anyone has dealt with this before or knows how far back arrears can be backdated?

Are you the payer or the recipient? You mention paying arrears but also mention taking time to find your partner.
They will check the case to when it started. If you have already cleared arrears then there shouldn't be any problems.0 -
Hi sorry for any confusion we are the payer's as its my partners case that he has against him from his ex..i just deal with it all for him
The csa took a while to find my partner when the case started and i think the case opened in 2006 but they didn't contact my partner until 2009.We gave them all the details they asked for and the calculation started,we had arrears outstanding but i stupidly didn't ask from what dates and i don't want to ask in case it gets investigated. I can vaguely remember the advisor telling us that they would not be able to backdate as they take the claim from the day that the csa first had contact with my partner which was 2009. The arrears are supposedly clear but i am concerned they could go back to 2006 when his ex first opened the case...sorry for blabbing on and on I just find it all a bit too much to cope with sometimes

So he paid nothing between 2006 and 2009?0

Its a standard thing. My case finished October last year. This final check took about 2 weeks. They also check against over payments. I had over payed for a couple of weeks (2 or 3, cant really remember) so they will also arrange a repayment.
Although you do hear of cases where arrears seem to magically appear i think in general its pretty straight forward.0 -
MataNui thank you for your comment do you know what the final check actually involves,do they look back into historical arrears ?0

marliepanda..... He didn't pay anything between 2006/2009 as the csa never contacted him and he was actually paying large amounts off debt that was the PWC 's and his from their relationship..it was an agreement they had when they split. We were not aware she had involved the csa until they contacted us ,the csa only found our address in 2009 and as soon as they contacted we gave them the relevant info. The case had been opened without our knowledge in 2006 due to no contact with the PWC and it was only in 2009 that we actually found out about it and have paid ever since.0
