National Express Ticket Search

I was planning to book a ticket from Nottingham to London Victoria using National Express online Booking site. As a student, that costs me £5. I noticed that this coach makes a stop at London Finchley Road which is actually more convenient for me. I go back to the search facility and look at Nottingham to London Finchley Road tickets to find it will cost me £10 for a shorter journey. £5 more expensive! So why not book a ticket to London Victoria and just get off earlier and save £5? KERCHING!
I actually looked at this for other journeys too (without student discount) and found the same thing occurs.
A 5:30pm coach from Nottingham to London Victoria would cost £14.00
A 5:30pm coach from Nottingham to Milton Keynes Coachway costs £18.00 even though its the same coach as the one going to London. So why the £4 extra for a shorter journey?
Having spoken to National Express they told me you can get off earlier but you must begin your journey from the starting station. Additionally, they have said it's the customers responsibility to find the cheapest route.
Personally, I think it's incredibly sneaky but I guess we can play them at their own game, eh?

Not unusual. A National Express coach return from Brighton to Heathrow costs less than one from Gatwick to Heathrow, even if the journey from Brighton involves changing coaches at Gatwick.0
