Service rankings/awards - 'Renewables & energy saving'

Hi All
The thread title say's it all really - "Service rankings/awards - 'Renewables & energy saving'" .... how do we all feel about the level of service or support we currently receive from our energy suppliers involving issues issues related to renewable energy and domestic energy saving ? ....
Maybe we could develop the idea towards a set of periodic member nominated awards ranging from excellence at one end (if that's possible!) to shame at the other ... of course, representatives of the energy industry will need to take heed and prepare a suitable & prominent display cabinet to hold the relevant award, be it a representation of a glowing ball of plasma, a chocolate teapot - or whatever else comes up ....
Let's have a moan, let's praise and shame .... maybe we'll have some impact and raise the profile of the 'Green & Ethical' boards and it's issues within the energy sector, or whereever else the flow goes ....

Well, here's the opening/current rankings as I see them ....
1 - E.ON ... Malc actually provides assistance on these boards
2 - EDF ... Reported as regularly paying FiTs quickly - days not weeks or months.
..
..
..
6 - Joint position for everyone else as there's no other viewpoint yet and none of them seem to bother to provide input/help/advice on this forum !"We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit. " ...... Aristotle

Hi Zeupater,
Good idea on the thread.
I agree with your comments on the FIT Payments thread that it's very noticeable that EON seems to be the only company with active representatives here.
I have to praise EDF though with the consistency of their fast FIT payments. They seem to be on top of things now.
I cannot knock them for not having a representative here online but I guess if I had any issues then it would be good.

Thanks for the positive feedback both. Much appreciated. Now the bar's been set, we need to make sure we keep up the standards. Sure you'll let us know if we don't.
Thanks again.

First Utility - put in first claim on 31st March - also submitted email of gen meter photo as this was the first time I had claimed after 9 months of installation. Received response same day confirming reading was accepted. (=Gold star CS)
Received email 11 April saying payment now calculated but not to expect payment until 27th May - so 8 weeks in arrears = below average I suspect.I think....0 -
E.ON get my vote. I am with them for supply and FIT. CS has improved markedly over the years, especially on the FIT side.
When I was planning to install PV they were way down the CS league table and I was wondering whether to take my FIT custom elsewhere but once I got round to completing the forms and pre-checking with the FIT team I was well-impressed. Everything ran smoothly.
I get my FIT payments within about a week of submitting the reading and have never been queried on a reading. The bi-annual inspection reading was a bit of a pain as someone just turned up at the door asking for access. When I said the TGMs are in the loft she declined my kind offer to go inspect. A few exchanges of emails led to a proper appointment to come in and read when someone was at home...
The only real niggle I had was about the so-called terms and conditions change. They are not E.ON T&C but the FIT system. I recall a discussion on here about that and Malc's contributions. I had an interesting exchange with E.ON about the issue and was impressed by the professional approach and willingness to listen and be clear about what they could and could not influence or change. Most refreshing.
So, things don't always go quite to plan but CS is about how you sort those issues out and E.ON score highly there for me.
Overall I think E.ON are doing a grand job, especially the FIT team.:T0 -

Looks like reasonable service unless money's involved then .... having an intent to hold on to funds for a couple of months in these days of electronic payment sounds as if the beancounters rule the roost and customer service is a secondary concern .... I know it'll be way in the future, but do let us know if they finally meet their own target ...
Note for First Utility then - where's your company representative? - we'd all be interested to see the reason as to why this FiT payment is planned to take such a long time ...."We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit. " ...... Aristotle

Morning pinnks and thanks for the positive feedback. Glad you're okay with our FIT team. I'll make sure I pass this on to them.
I remember the discussion about the T&C changes too. I also recall the difficulties in the early days when FIT schemes were just beginning. We've certainly come a long way from then and it's important we keep on developing to meet the ongoing changes and challenges. To this end, we've invested a lot in our FIT teams and they're now one of our most successful areas.
Thanks again for posting this feedback pinnks.

When I queried the length of time it takes for payment last year, I received the following answer:
They are a smaller business than the big utility companies and can't afford to pay the FIT to customers before they receive the money from the Central pot of money they claim from. This can take up to 12 weeks.Bury - 4.96kWp system

My vote would go to EDF for fast FIT payments (within a few days of submitting readings). They were also very helpful when registering and helped get things set up quickly.0
