Default dates

Hi all, coming up to my six years since going BR at end of April, did a post credit clean up years ago, my mortgage was included in in my BR, but when I looked at the default date for northern rock it shows a date of six months later than the BR.
Question is will everything that was included in my BR drop off my credit file come the 6 year date, or is it likely the mortgage default will stay on my report till its recorded default date ?
Is there anything I can do if this is the case.
Thanks in advance
Andy

It will stay until 6 years from it's recorded default date.
You can complain, as they should have backdated the default to your BR date, but most mortgage lenders (inc NRAM) tend to reject the complaint and force you to take your luck with a complaint via the FOS etc.

Great thanks for the info.0

Hi Andy,
I had the same problem with NRAM. However, I sent off a letter to their Data Controller advising them of the law and the need for them to amend the date to the date of my BR (I found the template on this forum - check the stickies). I received no response to the letter but thankfully within 2 months, my credit reports were showing the correct date.
Hopefully you have the same luck as me!0 -
Handy to know they are being a bit more sensible about it now then.

Well I can confirm that after sending a letter for me and the wife to NRAM about the mortgage default showing on our credit files with incorrect dates, they were removed.
Then had a letter few weeks ago saying that any dealings with NRAM would now be under a new company called Landmark mortgages.
Just happened to check both our credit files on Noodle yesterday, and the mortgage default has reappeared on my wifes credit file, with dates after our initial BR.
What should be approach on this now? do I need to send a cleanup letter to them again, any help with this would be great.0 -
If it's re-appeared with the wrong date (is this under the Landmark name?) then you need to write to whoever currently submits the data, it's ultimately their responsibility to sort out, regardless of what info they may have got from NR/NRAM.
I'd sign up for Clearscore and check that - you've got about a 90% chance of it being incorrect across all 3, so then dispute it on there (it goes through to Equifax) and any correction should also correct all CRAs.
I've found Noddle's (Call Credit) dispute process to be as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Equifax on the other hand, are really good.
I've done the whole credit file cleanup - not sent a physical letter in the post, just created online disputes with Equifax
If you don't want it passed from Clearscore through to Equifax (there is a slight delay) you can sign up for Equifax free trial, check EVERYTHING and dispute everything that's wrong.
Remember to cancel the free trial.
When the companies eventually reply, Equifax are nice enough to generate a brand new report for you each time to prove the changes have been done - so your free trial is essentially extended (rather than waiting up to a month for Clearscore to update each time, and sometimes the updates aren't even on that straight away so you wait another month).0 -
Setup a Clearscore account for the wife and the default shows as Landmark mortgages on there, Im going to send them the cleanup letter with proof of discharge I think, thanks for your help with this, you can bet they re add it to my credit file as well.
Will update when I hear owt.0
