Freezing cottage cheese

It says on the tub not suitable for freezing but is it ok to freeze if it's just part of a recipe?

I would think that it would be fine, I freeze ricotta cheese which doesn't actually say it CAN be frozen and it comes out absolutely fine, as good as it goes in. I defrosted a carton today and used it very successfully as the topping on our supper lasagne.

I freeze milk regularly and have been known to freeze paneer, both come out well so cottage cheese should be fine. In fact the icy crystals will make it extra delicious.

The only suspicion I would have is whether the warning infers it's already been frozen. In which case I wouldn't.

Freezing it may change some of the texture / flavour - but it should still be fine, and certainly ok to cook with if nothing else.
