DWP reserve list ??? Confused

Given what's been going on over the past few years at the DWP, I'm surprised anybody wants to work there!
I would suggest that you've got to be utterly desperate to want to work there!0 -

That may well be the case, but for many people any job is better than no job and rightly so. I wouldn't ever return to working in DWP (thankfully I'm now retired anyway), but for those who haven't been working it will show as a positive on their CV.
What I can't understand is why anybody would want to move from their current employment to work at DWP. The days of jobs in the Civil Service being easy, well paid jobs for life, with gold plated pensions and great additional benefits is long gone - if they ever existed.0 -

Yes, I totally accept what you're saying. Depending on the position applied for, if it's front line, like advisor or Work Coach, you may soon find out that the stress will make you wish you hadn't applied!
Unless of course, you're one of those sadistic-by-nature people (without a conscience), in which case, you'll do swimmingly!0 -

Unfortunately I can confirm that working in processing offices is just as stressful and demoralising as front line working.:( In both areas there is basically a choice of hitting targets by doing the job badly, or risking being put on a performance improvement programme if you try to do the job properly (which can't be done in the time allotted)0 -
Hi,
Have you heard anything further from DWP? Have you found out any more details about how the reserve list works? I'm in the same situation as you but for a different role, still DWP. I wonder if there are 2 reserve lists...1 for internal staff and 1 for external. I'm not very hopeful that the position I am in will even come up again in the next year!
I wonder what % of people on the reserve list actually get offered a job!
I want to remain hopeful but not let it take over my life! 0 -
Hows the job of work coach going?0

Hi all,
I recently applied for a Work Coach position with DWP.
Received interview invitation and had interview on 24th Feb 2017.
Heard back today I am on the reserve list.
My competency feedback scores from interview are as follows : 6,7,7,7.
The reserve list is for 6 months.
Chances that somebody scored higher than me or that there are no positions right now ?
I know with the Universal Credit reforms coming in, they will be having a reshuffle towards the end of the year.
Thanks in advance.
I received the exact same scores as you for an EO role, but not a Work Coach one, and I ended up on the reserve list. I've found the DWP to be more generous and overall a lot nicer than most of the other departments in their intervieweing, despite the fact that they get a lot of flack. I'm also on the reserve list for a couple of other roles and waiting to hear back about a Work Coach job. 6,7,7,7 is one mark off full marks, which would usually be enough for you to be offered the job, but standards must be high at the moment.
Essentially they'll just offer any matching posts that come up to people on the reserve list rather than advertising them. I was told by the chap who interviewed me at my last one that the DWP seems to recruit off the reserve list a lot more than other departments so you probably have a fighting chance. They seem to be hiring work coaches in the hundreds at the moment so I think it's reasonable to expect that a percentage of people might reject the offer or find something else given the Civil Service's slow hiring process.0 -
Hi.
I'm in exactly the same position. Applied for an AO position. Closing date 1 Sept 2016. Did the online tests and had an interview early November. Got an email the same as you - waiting list. No one said there was a waiting list. I had another email early December saying they have a job and asked me which of the three Shift patters I would like. I gave my preference but said I'd do any. I get another email a couple of weeks later saying I'm on the waiting list. Heard nothing until last month when I got an email saying congratulations you've got a job, please complete the DBS check attached. I've heard nothing since and that was nearly three weeks ago. It's taken me 10 months so far, I'm not holding my breath.
Good luck0 -
Hello,
I know this is a very old thread. But did you get the job? Have you heard from them within 6 months? I got 6,6,6,5,7 and put on reserve list0 -
Hi i have recently received a message saying : You’ve reached the required standard but we’re unable to offer you a job immediately.
Due to delayed budgetary approval we are unable to make offers at this stage, We apologise for the delay and will resume job offers in due course. Your name will be placed on a reserve list and we will refer to the reserve list when making job offers.
Has anyone else had a similar response and what does this mean exactly ?0
