Returning to work

My husband has been offered a job (starts next Monday) so I rang income support to make them aware. The person I spoke to just said he'd pass it onto the relevant department & the call was ended.
Do we need to reapply for housing & council tax benefit, to see if we are still entitled to any? I assume all payments will now be suspended?
I was expecting a bit of help with what happens next, but the advisor wasn't helpful at all :(

Also I have asked tax credits to send me a claim pack, how long does it usually take to process new claims?

Never assume anything. Tell everyone who pays you benefit individually. Then reapply as they tell you.

He told me he would pass the info onto housing & council tax benefits, should I ignore that then & give them a call?

Ignore that statement. It's highly unlikely that anybody at Income Support will contact your local council. There may be a notification sent from the Income Support system when your claim is closed, but don't bank on it.
It is your responsibility to inform any benefit provider of your change of circumstances. For your own safety it's better for them to be told twice than not be told at all.
