default notice part 2

Hi again

I checked last night and they have definitely issued me with a default notice (explains why I was recently refused a loan!!) So effectively they have issued me with a default notice after 9 days. As i explained yesterday they rang me the day after my direct debit was due and did not go through. I told them I thought the payment date had changed as the last payment was taken out 3-4 days late and that they should try to take the direct debit again as I had been paid and there was plenty of money.
I recieved a letter dated the same date but ignored it as I assumed that they were going to take the direct debit again. They rang me on holiday and told me I was in arrears so I gave them a card payment. i could not argue at that point as i was on holiday. It was not until i checked last night that i realised that it was an actual default.

Can I get this removed from my credit record given that i asked them to take the direct debit and they did not?? and if so how should i go about it.

many thanks
