Bristol - bournemouth Train. Cheapest way?

I will soon be making a return journey once a week from Bristol to Bournemouth , leaving on one day, returning the next and am looking for the cheapest train ticket.
I am not young or old enough for a railcard and it doesn't look as though I can save any money by splitting the ticket.
I will be sure to get a CC so that I am able to cash in on the cash back after purchasing with the CC, but are there any other ways for me to save?
Does anyone have any ideas?
thank you

If advance tickets are suitable, you can split at Southampton, saving about a fiver off an off-peak return.0

Also look at fares via Dorchester West/South.0

Standard, turn-up-and-go return fares seem to be about £39 if you travel off-peak or £44 at peak times as long as you travel via Salisbury - probably won't find much better than that by splitting.
One extra tip, if you are able to travel after 09.00am on weekdays, or at weekends...
There are some great "Freedom of Severn and Solent" rover tickets that allow unlimited travel right across the area you're travelling through:
Travel on any 8 days in a 15 day period: £70.50
Travel on any 3 days in a 7 day period: £46.00
For more info just search for "Rovers & Rangers" on the National Rail website.
So, if you were making just two return journeys a fortnight at off peak times, you'd save money by getting the 8-in-15 rover. Plus, you'd have the flexibility to travel via either Southampton or Dorchester, as well as four 'spare' days of travel you could use for other journeys anywhere in the validity area which stretches as far as Portsmouth, Cardiff, Swindon and Weymouth.0 -

That's a great rover ticket. It's a shame many people don't know they are available! The similar ride Cornwall ticket at 10 quid is a bargain.0 -
Alas regular overnight returns are pretty much bread and butter work for trains.
Off-peak travel is probably your best bet - I find it's actually cheaper for me to stay at a hotel (in London) and travel off-peak than pay peak rates!0
