Theres a shortfall in my sons student loan and his rent as well as books, food, travel and other expenses
He is living in the cheapest accommodation and we are expected to contribute to his expenses. He is trying to get a job but hasn't had any success so far0 -

Apologies. Why is what so much? Could you clarify?0 -
A DRO is 20k - so you almost qualify for this even if you have to pay it down 1k before doing it. A simpler less radical way of getting rid of your debt than bankcrupty - providing you qualify of course, i think the criteria is cant have more than £50 spare a month, but you have no income, apart from student loan so hopefully will be ok. Your partner should be able clear 6k debt with 2k income without resorting to any debt plans, just a good budget to cut down etc.0
