hi thank you for letting me join, wasn't sure where to post this so hope its ok, just after a little help/advice if anyone can help please, for the past 2 months deductions have been taken from my husband wages we don't know who or why, its an AEO,he asked HR and they said it was Inland Revenue, he phoned them up and it's not them,i spoke to an advisor from money service , he said could be a court order advised me to do a credit check,so done a credit check nothing showing up,so then i spoke to another adviser from National debt line, she said same thing but when i showed her nothing showing she then said it could be council tax,so i emailed council office and its not them now we are completely stumped:( who else could it be? we have had no letters or anything saying we owe money (though we do lol) how can we find out or stop this as its affecting out budget now
thank you

What does the payslip say?0

The employer knows! They must because they have been served with an order to do it. The money must be going somewhere, and the employer is paying it to someone. If the employer had been served with an order, you won't find it easy to stop it - the whole point of such orders is to get money that you owe that you aren't paying.0

Does he have children?0 -
But the employer is paying the money to someone. It isn't collected by the tooth fairy. So whoever that someone is, is the one who had attached his earnings.
If HR can confirm that it is HMRC, then whatever they say when you phoned them, it is them. But it may not be something to do with the actual department you phoned. There should have been a letter - is there any possible debt or payment due that is from before your current address. They may not have a current address and the letter had gone to a previous last known address.0 -

Well if he had allowed mail to go there in the past he may not have changed the address. That would be his responsibility. But surely the employer can tell you who they are paying the money deducted to?0 -
