    If he speaks to his emplye they can probably do him a letter confirming his current pay and explaining the error, to provide to the mortgage lender/broker if needed. Did he have a letter from them when they gave him the pay rise? If so, a copy of that to the lender / broker should make things clear

    Hi yes we've got the letters but mortgage company seems to think anyone could write them (which is true!) which is why they supplied April payslip now....
