Selling vinyl

Hi I have quite a lot of vinyl which I don't play anymore and am looking to get rid of them.

They are mainly 1994-2000 drum and bass/hard house and Rap records.

If I had to guess, most wouldn't be worth much, but I think there would be a few that would be worth at least £10 each as they were white label/rare.

However, I used to do a lot of turntabilism and so my records are not in mint condition at all. But they play.

So I'm just wondering what the best way to shift these would be?

Would a local record store just give me a small lump sum for the lot? Or would they just pick out the best ones?

Worth selling in batches on ebay? Or just try and sell individually? Or not worth the bother and give to a charity shop?

Thank you

For many types of music, the industry bible is Record Collector magazine. They publish values for all kinds of collectable (and not so collectable) records. However, I'm not sure whether they deal with the particular genres of music that you have but I would be surprised if there wasn't a similar publication or website for that genre.

Do you know any record dealers? There's a possibility that they might be interested in your whole collection although you wouldn't get as much as selling singly on ebay.

One other thing to think about is timing - do the people that are likely to be into that particular style have enough disposable income to collect vinyl? Vinyl collecting seems to be more prevalent amongst those in their twenties and those in their fifties and sixties. Between those ages, many people are too busy buying houses and raising children to collect music.

I sold my entire LP collection to a trader/collector who advertises on Gumtree.I got a lot more than I expected.
Have a look to see if there's such a person in your area
