Halifax Mortgage Payment Missed

Hi , just a quick question if anyone can answer?
I missed my Halifax mortgage payment on the 1st April as my wages had not been paid into the bank as normal, they went in after a delay, so the mortgage payment bounced back
I received a letter from the bank saying i'd missed a direct debit payment, but nothing to tell me if they would reapply for it or when.
Im going to give them a ring tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone knows if they usually reapply for the payment automatically? This has never happened before. I know I should have really called them up ASAP but I havent, so trying to sort it out now.
