Zeiss spectacle lenses: scratching

For 52 years now I have been wiping my glasses with paper tissues without any significant scratching.

My very expensive Zeiss lenses are badly scratched after a number of months. It appears to be the anti-scratch coating is scratched. My glasses have been returned to Zeiss under warranty for examination.

I am wondering whether there are any "saints" who any use micro fibre cloths fully in accordance with Zeiss's recommendation. If Zeiss lenses are fit for purpose then they should be able to cope with minor deviations from their regimented regime.
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Really good news. Zeiss accepted that my glasses were faulty and replaced the lenses without question. It raises one's confidence when a manufacturer behaves in a respectable manner. I will be going back to Zeiss in the future.

Not particularly Zeiss lenses (stopped buying those when Asda started selling cheap thinned lenses) but I have had some scratches appear on my specs over the years, which an optician said was due to use of seemingly clean but actually unclean tissues (i.e. they had minute grit on them). I now make sure that I only use the lens cloths that are supplied with my specs; fortunately I have built up quite a collection of the cloths, so there is always one handy in a pocket or handbag.

Are you sure it's the anti scratch coating that's scratched and not the MAR?

Thank you, Tigtseroonie. Yes, I am doing likewise and have bought several cloths to keep in plastic boxes in various places such that cloths are always at hand. Presumably, it is important to keep the cloths away from "minute grit".

I am not sure which layer was affected, but Zeiss agreed without qualification that the lenses were not manufactured correctly.

There was a dodgy batch of Zeiss lenses where the MAR was flaking off a while back so wonder if your lens was from that batch

Thank you, GlaseJen. This sounds quite likely.

I was told by my optician in Scotland that it's OK to use kitchen roll but not tissue for some unknown reason.
