RentMyItems experience?

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with the website 'Rentmyitems(.)com'?

I have a games console which I am considering listing but I'm sure how safe it is.

Thanks,

Jon

No experience of that site, but legally you can't just rent out certain items. Software, video games, DVDs etc. you cannot rent out so not sure how they're getting away with that!

It's been going a few years now, but it's due to expire this year and there's no guarantee they'll renew it.

    Site info:
    Updated Date: 22-dec-2015
    Creation Date: 29-dec-2010
    Expiration Date: 29-dec-2016

    Registrant State/Province: Hertfordshire
    Registrant Postal Code: AL5 5TH
    Registrant Country: GB

Registered in the UK, which is odd as currency is in dollars.

There are 2 different addresses, both UK, for the site details.

    Tech State/Province: Middlesex
    Tech Postal Code: UB3 1HA
    Tech Country: GB

You have to trust the person you're renting to and you have to be able to get the item to them (easier with some items than others).

Scamadvisor rates the site as highly trusted.

Do remember that with a console you want to make sure they can't access your account(s) and that when you get it back it may have other peoples accounts on. They could factory reset it, losing your account on it. You could possibly lose game saves. Also, if they go online and get banned you may find your console gets blacklisted and is unable to ever go online again. Plus, it will have a UK plug (I assume you're in the UK?) in which case they'll need an adapter to use it in other countries. Same would go for if it has a US plug or whatever.

Personally I wouldn't trust using a site like that, especially with items that should not be rented out.

That reply was so helpful, thank you.

I'm currently trying to clear some debt but was hoping to avoid selling my pride and joy - I guess I will have to bite the bullet :(

    Thanks again

There are numerous ways of making extra cash on these boards. Maybe you could try some of them before selling anything.
